I use EMDR therapy with my existing clients where we know each other well and trust is already established. Lately, the demand for EMDR therapy alone is getting higher. I would like to emphasize that therapeutic relationship and feelings of trust and safety towards your therapist are the key elements for any successful psychological treatment. If you would like to come solely for EMDR therapy, we will need to establish a safe relationship first. That means that we will need to have a get to know sessions before we start with EMDR.
With my clients, I usually work with “classical” EMDR (8 phases EMDR therapy). However, I am also trained in EMDR for early interventions and ongoing stress. Note that both following EMDR procedures differs from “Classical” one:
- EMDR for Acute Stress Syndrome for individuals or groups: This is an early intervention right after a traumatic event. Although many people recover from trauma over relatively short periods, suffering can be intense. This type of EMDR helps to ease the stress and promote prevention of PTSD development. With this EMDR only short medical history is taken, and after we start processing the traumatic event. Processing can be done a few times a day and/or a few days in a row. For example this type of EMDR is suitable right after an accident, traumatic birth, assault, natural catastrophes etc.
- EMDR for ongoing traumatic stress for individuals or groups is suitable for people in stressful, traumatic situations that are still happening. With this EMDR only short medical history is taken, and after we start processing the traumatic event. Processing can be done a few times a day and/or a few days in a row. For example this type of EMDR is suitable for someone with ongoing disease, ongoing traumatic events, poverty, ongoing natural catastrophe recovery, ongoing pandemic, sequence of traumatic events etc.
Considering your circumstances, I will suggest which EMDR protocol suits your situation best.
Price: 90 EUR/50 minutes-often 2 sessions in a row will be needed to ensure enough time for processing.
Sessions can be online or in person.
Please note that EMDR is not suitable for someone with ongoing substance abuse, psychosis, and severe dissociative disorder. If I judge at any part of the process that EMDR is not a safe method for you, we will talk about different possibilities that are better/safer for your situation.
